On July 3, 2001, Tigist Hailu was reported missing by her employers. Tigist was employed as a nanny and was brought to the United States from Dubai, U.A.E. to care for the couple’s children while they were visiting in the city of Mission Viejo. On July 2, 2001, Tigist’s employers went out for the evening and returned shortly after midnight to find their children unsupervised and their nanny Tigist Hailu missing. Tigist’s purse and cash from the residence were also missing. Tigist’s employers suspect that Tigist wanted to remain in the United States and most likely left voluntarily to avoid returning to Dubai. Tigist has not been seen or heard from since.
