Adolescent Family Life Program (AFLP) and Cal-Learn Program address the social, health, educational and economic challenges of adolescent pregnancy by providing comprehensive case management services to expectant and parenting teens and their children. The programs emphasize building upon an adolescent’s strengths and resources. Case managers work closely with youth to improve the health and well-being of themselves and their children.
Increase access to and utilization of needed services;
Increase social and emotional support and build resiliency;
Increase educational attainment and employability; and,
Improve pregnancy planning and spacing.
Family planning and safer sex;
Access to health and health care;
Education and work;
Expectant and parenting adolescents (male and female) up to age 19 who have custody of the child or are co-parenting with a custodial parent.
AFLP and Cal-Learn staff is comprised of social workers and Public Health Nurses who provide one-on-one support and help link teens to services and programs available in the community including:
Health services for themselves and their children
Schooling and/or vocational classes
Childbirth classes and/or parenting classes
AFLP and Cal-Learn staff can meet with the teen at home, school, or wherever she or he is comfortable.
