To provide protection to active U.S. Armed Forces, Congress passed the Service Members Civil Relief Act (SCRA). SCRA serves to enable persons in the military to devote their entire energy to the national defense needs. SCRA provides benefits such as reducing the interest rate on arrears from 10% to 6% while on active duty. Also, active service members will be appointed a legal counsel prior to the establishment of a default judgment order.
