Emergency Animal Evacuations and Shelters Established
OC Animal Care has established an emergency small animal shelter to provide services for residents under mandatory evacuation orders as a result of the Canyon 2 Fire.
The temporary small animal shelter is located at 561 The City Drive in Orange. This shelter is currently accepting small animals. If possible, please bring photo identification, veterinary/vaccination records, special food, and medications along with your animals.
Large animal owners under mandatory evacuation order may take their animals to the Orange County Fairgrounds at 88 Fair Drive in Costa Mesa. Owners will be responsible for the care of their animals.
Animal owners who are under evacuation orders are strongly encouraged to evacuate with their pets as the emergency may prevent resources from entering impacted areas to assist with animals due to safety concerns.
Animal owners with disabilities, access or functional needs can call OC Animal Care at (714) 935-6848 (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) and (714) 935-7158 (5:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.) or dial 911 for assistance.
Animal owners can call the fire information line at (714) 765-4333. General information about OC Animal Care is available on their web site at www.ocpetinfo.com or by calling (714) 935-6848.
