The Special Investigation Bureau (SIB) is designed and administered to deter, investigate, and suppress all violations of law relating to narcotics substance abuse, suppression of street gangs, and vice activities. The bureau’s lieutenant is administratively responsible for day-to-day operations. SIB is divided into four separate components Vice, Narcotics, Gang Enforcement and Regional Narcotics Suppression Program (RNSP). The bureau’s Vice/Narcotics Units are housed at the Sheriff's headquarters building' in Santa Ana, John Wayne Airport and the Aliso Viejo station. The Gang Enforcement Team also works out of the Sheriffs headquarters building and Aliso Viejo. The Regional Narcotics Suppression Program is a multi-jurisdictional program involving federal, state and local police agencies focusing on major drug traffickers and money launderers.
